US EV Charging Station Growth Report
The US EV charging network is expanding rapidly. This report tracks station growth, network expansion, and regional infrastructure trends using data from the US Department of Energy NREL database.
National Overview
The US now has over 60,000 public EV charging stations with more than 170,000 individual charging ports. The federal NEVI program is accelerating deployment along designated Alternative Fuel Corridors with a goal of 500,000 public chargers by 2030.
DC Fast Charging Expansion
DC fast charging stations have grown significantly, with major investments from Electrify America, Tesla Supercharger network (now open to non-Tesla vehicles), ChargePoint, and EVgo. The average distance between highway DCFC stations continues to shrink.
Regional Trends
California leads in total station count, followed by New York, Florida, and Texas. The fastest growth rates are in southeastern and midwestern states as federal NEVI funding reaches new corridors.
Network Market Share
ChargePoint maintains the largest network by station count. Tesla's Supercharger network leads in DC fast charging reliability. Electrify America and EVgo continue expanding highway corridors. Smaller networks serve niche markets and local communities.
