Tesla opened an 8-stall Supercharger at Harrah's Cherokee Casino Resort in Cherokee, North Carolina, on October 16, 2026. The site is rated for up to 500 kW. It is open to Tesla drivers and to other EVs that use the Tesla app.
This is the first Supercharger in Cherokee itself. Before it opened, the closest station was in Sylva, about 8 miles away in a straight line. Now drivers visiting the resort, or passing through on U.S. 441 and U.S. 19, can charge in town. The 8 stalls add a fast-charging option on the North Carolina side of the mountains.

Who can charge here
Any car with a NACS port plugs straight in. That includes every Tesla and any other EV built with a native NACS port.
Non-Tesla EVs are welcome at this site. The stalls carry NACS cables only. There are no dual-cable (Magic Dock) stalls here. If your car has a CCS1 port, you need an automaker-approved NACS-to-CCS adapter. Tesla's own location page notes that a NACS adapter is needed for non-Tesla EVs.
To start a session in a non-Tesla car:
- Download the Tesla app and create an account.
- Add a payment method.
- Choose "Charge Your Non-Tesla" and pick this Cherokee site.
- Select your stall number, plug in, and start the session in the app.
Check your automaker's guidance before you rely on an adapter. Use one your automaker approves. Our guide to using a NACS adapter at a Tesla Supercharger covers the details.
How fast it charges
This is a DC fast charging site. The U.S. Department of Energy says DC fast chargers can reach power outputs up to 500 kW. DOE puts typical DC fast charging at roughly 100 to 200+ miles of range per 30 minutes. Those figures are approximate. Your real speed depends on your car's maximum charge rate, battery temperature and state of charge.
The 500 kW rating is the most the stall can deliver. Your car may accept far less. The car, not the stall, sets the ceiling, and almost every EV slows down as the battery fills past about 80%. For the fastest stop, arrive with a low battery and leave once the charge rate drops.
Compare that with Level 2. DOE says Level 2 charging adds roughly 25 miles of range per hour. A short stop at this Supercharger can add what a Level 2 charger would take hours to deliver. For the full breakdown, see EV charging levels explained.
Getting there
The Supercharger is at Harrah's Cherokee Casino Resort, 777 Casino Dr, Cherokee, NC 28719. The resort sits on Casino Trail (U.S. 441 Business), the road that links U.S. 441 and U.S. 19 in Cherokee.
That puts the site close to both main roads through town, U.S. 441 and U.S. 19. Drivers coming from Tennessee or from elsewhere in western North Carolina can reach it without a long detour.
Search "Cherokee, NC" in the Tesla app or your car's map to route to the site. The stalls are open 24/7.
What it costs
Tesla sets Supercharger prices per site. When we checked Tesla's location page on October 17, 2026, it listed a base rate of $0.43 per kWh for Tesla owners and $0.57 per kWh for all other EVs.
Treat those as a snapshot. Prices can change by time of day and over time. Tesla shows the live per-kWh price in the Tesla app and on the car screen before you plug in. Non-Tesla drivers pay a different rate than Tesla owners.

Tips
- Plan for the mountains. This site sits about 610 meters (2,000 feet) above sea level, and steep climbs use more energy than flat highway miles. Leave Cherokee with a buffer if you are heading over the ridge into Tennessee.
- Charge to 80%, not 100%. Charging slows sharply near full. Stopping around 80% gets you back on the road faster and frees the stall.
- Precondition your battery. In a Tesla, set this Supercharger as your destination so the car warms the battery on the way. Many other EVs offer a similar setting. A warm battery charges faster, which matters on cold mountain mornings.
- Bring the right adapter. CCS drivers should keep an approved NACS adapter in the car. This site has no dual-cable stalls.
- Move when you're done. Free the stall when your session ends. Set a charge limit in the app so you know when you hit your target.
