Santa Ana already had Superchargers on 17th Street and on East 5th Street. This site adds 16 more stalls on the north side of the city, close to the CA-22 and I-5 freeways. It is the highest-rated site in the immediate area: the five nearest Superchargers top out at 325 kW or lower.
Who can charge here
Teslas plug in and charge as they would at any Supercharger.
Non-Tesla EVs with a NACS port also plug in directly.
Non-Tesla EVs with a CCS1 port need an automaker-approved NACS adapter. This site lists NACS connectors only. supercharge.info does not show dual-cable (Magic Dock) stalls here, so there is no built-in CCS cable. Bring your adapter.
Non-Tesla drivers start a session in the Tesla app. Open the app, choose "Charge Your Non-Tesla," pick the site and the stall number, then plug in. Check your vehicle maker's instructions first, since adapter and software support varies by model.

How fast it charges
This is a DC fast charging site. DC fast charging is the quickest public charging tier.
A few reference numbers:
- 500 kW is the rated peak per stall at this site, per supercharge.info. The U.S. Department of Energy's Alternative Fuels Data Center (AFDC) also notes that a DC charging unit can provide up to 500 kW.
- About 100 to 200+ miles of range per 30 minutes is the AFDC's approximate figure for DC fast charging in general.
- Up to 200 miles in about 15 minutes is Tesla's own approximate claim for Supercharging.
- About 25 miles of range per hour is the AFDC's approximate figure for Level 2, for comparison.
Your car sets the real speed, not the charger. Most EVs today accept well under 500 kW. A car's peak rate also falls as the battery fills. The AFDC notes that charging power varies by vehicle and battery state of charge. Expect the fastest charging at a low state of charge, and a steady slowdown past roughly 80%.
Tesla says preconditioning the battery makes charging up to 25% faster. In a Tesla, set the Supercharger as the destination in the car's maps and it warms the battery on the way.

Getting there
The site is at Grand Avenue Plaza, 2525 N Grand Ave, on the north side of Santa Ana in ZIP 92705. The plaza has about 475 feet of frontage on N Grand Avenue.
Map data from OpenStreetMap places CA-22 (the Garden Grove Freeway) within about a third of a mile of the site. I-5 (the Santa Ana Freeway) runs within about a mile. That makes it a short detour for drivers moving between the 22 and the 5, and for local drivers in Santa Ana, Orange and Tustin.
Use the station's GPS point (33.771032, -117.851484) or the street address in your maps app. Tesla drivers can search for the site by name in the car's maps.
What it costs
Tesla sets prices per site. The live per-kWh price shows in the Tesla app and on the car's screen before you plug in.
Keep two things in mind:
- Prices can change by time of day. The rate you see at 6 PM may differ from the rate at midnight.
- Non-Tesla pricing differs. Non-Tesla drivers may see a different rate than Tesla owners. The app shows what you will pay.
We did not find a published price for this site on an official Tesla page today, so we do not list one. Check the app before you go. For context on what public charging usually costs, read How much does public EV charging cost?.

Tips
- Check the app before you leave. The Tesla app shows stall availability and the current price for this site.
- Non-Tesla CCS drivers: pack the adapter. This site has no dual-cable stalls. Without an approved NACS adapter, a CCS car cannot charge here.
- Precondition on the way. A warm battery accepts more power. In a Tesla, set the site as the destination in the car's maps to trigger it.
- Unplug near 80%. Charging slows as the battery fills. On most trips, leaving at 80% gets you back on the road faster.
- Move the car when done. It frees the stall for the next driver.
